Job Summary:

Imperial College London is seeking a talented post-doctoral data scientist to join the Imperial Small Vessel Research Group in the Department of Brain Sciences. This exciting opportunity involves contributing to a new research program aimed at understanding the causes of cerebral small vessel disease, a leading cause of stroke and dementia. The successful candidate will engage in big data analysis and disease modeling using the UK Biobank dataset and other healthcare data to model mechanisms underlying cerebral small vessel disease markers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop statistical models to test hypothesized mechanisms underlying small vessel disease.
  • Improve the identification of potential research participants using imaging markers in big datasets.
  • Manage and analyze research datasets.
  • Lead and develop the data analysis program.
  • Further develop novel MRI imaging analysis for physiological measures (if applicable).
  • Manage research and administrative activities.
  • Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Attend and present work at international conferences.
  • Identify and apply for funding to build a research team.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold a PhD in neurosciences, statistics, or a data science discipline, or equivalent research, industrial, or commercial experience.
  • Experience in handling big datasets and statistical modeling.
  • Experience in supervising masters or PhD students.
  • Publications in national and internationally recognized journals.
