Job Description:
Progenics is looking for an experienced, highly competent Senior Bioinformatician to join its very dynamic team. This position will lead in the analysis and interpretation of complex genomic data in a collaborative environment with scientists and health professionals in the development and execution of bioinformatics pipelines that support leading-edge projects aimed at advancing knowledge of human genetics.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply bioinformatics tools and pipelines for the analysis of genomic and omics data.
- Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to understand project requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Perform data quality control, variant calling, and functional annotation of genomic data.
- Utilize statistical and computational methods to interpret complex datasets and generate meaningful results.
- Stay current with advancements in bioinformatics and genomics, and integrate new methodologies into existing workflows.
- Mentor and guide junior bioinformaticians and contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in bioinformatics or computational biology.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Perl, and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Strong knowledge of genomic data analysis, including NGS, variant calling, and functional annotation.
- Experience with data visualization and interpretation, using tools such as Bioconductor, GATK, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Language: Telugu-English-Hindi is much preferable.
