Diageo, the global leader in beverage alcohol, is offering an exceptional opportunity to join our world-renowned Global Microbiology Laboratories and Brewing R&D team in Dublin. This dual-function role is a rare chance to contribute to both microbiological quality control and experimental brewing process development.

๐Ÿ” What Youโ€™ll Do: Key Responsibilities

As a Lab Technologist, youโ€™ll play a critical role in executing microbiological analyses, fermentation experiments, and supporting brewing innovation:

Microbiological Testing & Quality Monitoring

  • Prepare media and operate autoclaves for sterile environments
  • Conduct sampling, serial dilutions, plating, and microbial enumeration
  • Apply microfiltration and aseptic techniques to maintain sample integrity
  • Perform DNA extraction and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records in LIMS (Lab Information Management Systems)
  • Draft and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and COSHH assessments

R&D & Experimental Brewing Support

  • Assist in fermentation studies and pilot-scale brewing projects
  • Analyze data, create reports, and present findings to stakeholders
  • Prepare materials and perform testing aligned with different research phases
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects to optimize lab operations

โœ… What You Bring: Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or Food/Beverage Science
  • Minimum 1 year of practical laboratory experience, preferably in fermentation, brewing, or food industries
  • Hands-on knowledge of aseptic techniques, microbial isolation, DNA techniques, and lab safety protocols
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving ability, and a keen eye for quality and detail
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills for stakeholder reporting and team collaboration
  • Experience in brewing or beverage fermentation is a strong advantage
  • Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and scientific data analysis tools
