🧪 About the Role: Laboratory Technologist
As a Laboratory Technologist at STERIS, you’ll play a vital role in performing microbiological testing, sterility assurance, and operating high-tech lab equipment. You will support a fast-paced environment focused on timely, accurate service delivery to our global Customer base.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological procedures including aseptic techniques, culture prep, LAL endotoxin testing, bioburden testing, environmental monitoring, and sterility tests.
- Operate a broad array of laboratory equipment, such as autoclaves, pH meters, filtration systems, gas chromatographs, MALDI-ToF, and more.
- Assist in research and method development, supporting senior microbiologists on new procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and Lean lab practices to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Train new laboratory staff in standard operating procedures and testing methodologies.
- Monitor stock levels of lab consumables, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).
- Support investigations into non-conformances or customer complaints, taking ownership of corrective actions and root cause analysis.
🎓 Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biology, or Chemistry
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory or microbiological testing environment
Technical Proficiency:
- Knowledge of GLP, GMP, and general microbiology lab techniques
- Experience with sterility testing, LAL assays, bioburden analysis, and laboratory data logging systems
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Exceptional time management and organizational ability
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
