BSFs are rapidly becoming vital in sustainable agriculture due to their ability to <strong>upcycle organic waste<\/strong> and serve as a <strong>low-carbon protein source<\/strong>. However, wildtype BSF strains have limitations. This project aims to introduce desirable traits using <strong>gene editing and transgenesis<\/strong> to unlock their full potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be working under the guidance of <strong>Professor Luke Alphey<\/strong>, a world leader in insect synthetic biology and co-founder of <strong>Oxitec<\/strong>, the company behind the world\u2019s first engineered mosquito releases.
