Job Opening: PhD Student in Plant Biotechnology
Location: Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Description:
The Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology CPSBB in Plovdiv is seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. student for the Department of Quantitative Crop Genetics. The working project will be “Employing natural variation to improve nutritional properties and stress tolerance in vegetable crops—NatGenCrop.” More specifically, the genetic basis and molecular insight into salinity tolerance in tomatoes and pepper will be elaborated to improve crop resilience and sustainability.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct cutting-edge plant science research related to the NatGenCrop project.
- Evaluate a wide range of plant phenotypic and metabolic traits.
- Perform transcriptomic profiling in GWAS panels and BIL populations for tomato and pepper.
- Identify and functionally characterize genes contributing to high yield and stress tolerance.
- Participate in other project events and activities.
Qualifications:
- MSc degree in Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, or related fields.
- Good technical skills and practical background.
- Excellent English presentation and communication skills (written and oral).
