As we launch our first European manufacturing facility in Athenry, we’re searching for a Senior Microbiologist who’s ready to play a pivotal role in ensuring microbial compliance, leading environmental monitoring, and supporting the scale-up of a world-class microbiology lab.

🔍 Your Impact – Key Responsibilities
In this onsite microbiology role, you’ll work at the intersection of science and operations, driving quality in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
- Establish and lead the Microbiology Lab and related validation protocols (test method, cleanroom, disinfectant, and equipment qualifications)
- Monitor and manage environmental systems (cleanroom, HVAC, compressed air, water)
- Oversee bioburden, endotoxin, and sterility testing of medical devices
- Develop and maintain Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Generate and review qualification reports and regulatory documentation
- Lead investigations into deviations, OOS events, CAPAs, NCMRs, and support change management
- Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO 13485, EU/US Pharmacopeia, EN 17141, and other global standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing
🎯 Your Profile – What Makes You Successful
✅ Education:
- BSc in Microbiology, Biology, or related scientific discipline
✅ Experience:
- 5–8 years in microbiology within the medical device, biopharmaceutical, or pharmaceutical industry
- Familiarity with 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 11737, ISO 14971, ISO 14644, and relevant regulatory frameworks
✅ Skills:
- Proven leadership in setting up microbiology labs and managing test validations
- Strong knowledge of cleanroom microbiology, sterilization validation, HVAC monitoring, and environmental testing
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation, calibration, and documentation control
- Excellent cross-functional communication and project ownership capabilities
