Job Summary:

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine invites applications for tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions. Successful candidates will establish an independent biochemistry or molecular biology research program focusing on basic or translational research. Applications from candidates whose research pertains to metabolism, gene expression, DNA replication and repair, and protein structure and function are particularly encouraged.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead an independent, extramurally funded research program.
  • Conduct research in areas such as metabolism, gene expression, DNA replication and repair, and protein structure and function.
  • Teach and mentor students at the medical, dental, graduate, and undergraduate levels.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and departments within the Carver College of Medicine.
  • Publish high-impact research findings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: PhD or equivalent degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Strong research publication record and a track record of independent funding.
  • Skills: Expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology techniques, strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Other Requirements: Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
