Advance the Future of Bacteriophage Therapy
Are you passionate about microbiology and eager to contribute to one of the most promising areas in biotechnology—bacteriophage-based therapies? This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of microbial innovation in a hands-on Phage Production Technician role.
We’re seeking a skilled bioprocessing technician to join our small, agile team (2–3 people) and support upstream and downstream phage production under GMP-like conditions. This is a critical role that combines aseptic microbiology, bioreactor operation, and purification processing in a BSL-2 lab environment.
🔬 Key Responsibilities
🧫 Upstream Processing
- Culture host bacterial strains with strict aseptic technique
- Execute phage propagation using shake flasks and benchtop bioreactors (1L–10L scale)
- Adhere to validated SOPs to ensure batch consistency and reproducibility
🧪 Downstream Processing
- Perform centrifugation, depth filtration, sterile filtration, and potentially Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF)
- Prepare and maintain phage and bacterial stock solutions (cell banking)
⚙️ Equipment Handling & Laboratory Environment
- Operate and maintain key lab equipment: incubators, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets, and bioreactors
- Ensure compliance with BSL-2 biosafety and aseptic conditions
📝 Documentation & GMP Compliance
- Maintain accurate batch records, equipment logbooks, and inventory databases
- Follow GMP-like documentation standards for traceability and process control
🤝 Team Collaboration & Lab Support
- Collaborate within a close-knit team to streamline workflows
- Contribute to overall lab maintenance and inventory management of consumables
🧠 Preferred Background & Experience
- Education: Minimum Bac+3 or Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, or a closely related life science discipline
- Experience: 2–3 years in a laboratory or biotech production setting—experience in pharmaceutical, biopharma, or GMP environments is highly preferred
✔️ Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong command of aseptic microbiological techniques
- Experience with flask-based bacterial culture and microbial propagation
- Hands-on knowledge of centrifugation and filtration processes
- Familiarity with benchtop bioreactors and fermentation equipment is a strong asset
- Meticulous record-keeping and GMP-style documentation experience
- Ability to follow complex protocols and standard operating procedures precisely
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively
- Experience in BSL-2 laboratory operations is highly desirable
🚀 Why Join Us?
- Be part of a cutting-edge biotech mission tackling antimicrobial resistance
- Gain in-depth experience with phage bioprocessing and emerging GMP platforms
- Work in a high-impact, small-team environment where your contributions directly affect outcomes
- Develop your career in one of the most rapidly advancing fields in life sciences
