This role offers the unique opportunity to be part of the sLoLa BBSRC-funded consortium, working alongside leading universities including Nottingham, Newcastle, and Cambridge. Under the supervision of Professor Gavin Thomas, youโll be engaged in high-impact research on how IM30 proteins protect biological membranes from stress across different microbial species.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments in molecular microbiology and microbial biochemistry.
- Plan and execute protein purification, gene expression, and bacterial genetic manipulation techniques.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary research team and contribute to the design and development of new experimental approaches.
- Maintain laboratory records and ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
- Manage lab inventory, chemicals, consumables, and service contracts.
- Communicate findings effectively to both internal and external research teams.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree or equivalent experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Microbiology, or a related biological science field.
- Hands-on experience in bacterial genetic manipulation, heterologous gene expression, and protein purification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to good laboratory practice (GLP).
